400 kV OHL Access Road & Benching (Jafnayn – New Rustaq)

The project executed by PWE was the 400 KV Overhead Transmission Line Access Road & Benching work for the Jafnayn to New Rustaq line. This critical infrastructure project was commissioned by Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC), the primary client for the nation’s grid. PWE worked as a subcontractor for the main contractor, SNCC (Sahel Najd Construction), a major player in Omani construction. The core activities involved constructing access roads to reach the remote tower locations, adhering strictly to OETC’s engineering standards. Furthermore, PWE performed specialized benching work on sloped terrain, which involved cutting a series of horizontal steps into the earth to create stable, level platforms for tower foundations and prevent soil collapse. This work was essential for ensuring a safe and secure worksite for subsequent construction phases and for the long-term stability of the high-voltage towers. Handling a 400 KV line signifies that this was a key part of Oman’s high-capacity national electricity grid. The project location between Jafnayn and New Rustaq presented specific geographical challenges that required precise earthmoving expertise. Successfully completing this project demonstrated PWE’s vital role in the early and crucial site preparation stages of major transmission line projects. This expertise in building access and preparing difficult terrain makes them a valuable partner for main contractors like SNCC.
